Child Safety Seats Recalled – Texas, Louisiana Parents Urged to Take Action
(KMDL-FM) This week has been filled with recall notices on several products that are available in Louisiana and Texas. The most recent recall notice that affects families in those two states is not from the FDA, the USDA, the CPSC, or the FSIS, who are the usual suspects when it comes to product recalls. This time, the recall is on children's car safety seats, and it comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Child safety seats have evolved through the years. In my own experience, I was cleaning out our attic and came across the safety seat we put our first child in back in 1995. Oh My God. That seat looked like it had all the safety features of a chair reinforced with barbed wire and broken glass. Yeah, it's pretty amazing how car safety seats have evolved over time.

You would think that with today's modern safety protocols and streamlined production processes, there couldn't be an issue with the structure and strength of the modern car safety seat. In the case of the recalled Evenflo model, the issue isn't about how well the seat protects the child. It's more a matter of could the child choke on the seat.
Which Child Safety Seats Are Being Recalled and Why?
The recall concern spelled out for the Evenflo Gold Revolve360 Slim and Revolve360 Slim car seats manufactured by Evenflo between December 1, 2022, and December 8, 2024, is a choking hazard. I know, that's not the reason I was expecting either.
Apparently, the foam on the headrest of the car seat can be pulled apart by tiny fingers. There is a concern that those tiny fingers might attempt to put some of the foam into their tiny mouths, which could result in a choking hazard. It seems minuscule, but when you're dealing with children, small children especially, there is no room for error.
How to Get a Replacement Product or Repair Kit for the Evenflo Car Seat Recall
The company is providing consumers with an at-home fix. You can request a repair kit from Evenflo. The kit will include additional tape and installation instructions on how to secure the headrest better and mitigate the choking concern.
If you have questions or would like to expedite the repair process, you may call Evenflo at 1-800-233-5921.
