Another Massive Indoor Water Park May Be Coming To Texas
Hitting up a water park in the middle of winter in Texas may not seem ideal, but for those looking for water park fun when it's 45 degrees, it's doable thanks to the many indoor water parks in Texas.
Indoor water parks aren't just for winter, they can be as much of a lifesaver in the middle of summer for those who don't want to be underneath the scorching sun and fighting off a potential sunburn.
Epic Waters in Grand Prairie, Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, and The Waterpark At The Villages at Lake Palestine are a few of the indoor water parks in the Lone Star State that give families access to some fun water activities in the middle of winter and a break from the Texas summer sun.
Splashing around in a wave pool, floating in a lazy river, standing underneath a huge dump bucket of water, and sliding down lots of water slides is a good way to make a winter day fly by. Indoors of course!
America's largest indoor water park could be coming to North Texas
Kalahari Resorts, known for their huge properties that feature indoor water parks, meeting space, entertainment centers, and hotel rooms announced Thursday (February 20, 2025), that they are interested in building one of their huge indoor water park resorts in a North Texas city.
The company is in talks with the City of Allen about potentially developing a family resort near Texas State Highway 121 and Stacy Road, which would include one of their 'largest indoor water park' facilities.
The proposed property would encapsulate 1.2 million square feet of resort and convention space and feature more than 900 guest rooms, an indoor and outdoor water park facility, and a family entertainment center. (Fox 4)
I'm all for this. Bring on the indoor water park fun.
The City of Allen says a resort of this magnitude would easily employ more than 1000 people with an investment approaching $1 billion dollars. Once complete a project of this size has the potential to bring more than $5 billion into the community over a 10-year span says the city.
As it currently stands, the city is in preliminary talks with the company and nothing is set in stone right now as they are still working on incentive plans to bring this dream to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
