As someone that enjoys spending time in the kitchen, whether it's testing new recipes or just improving old ones, the thought of a get-together of people showing off dishes that they've cooked is a pretty neat idea. That's why I thought it was pretty cool that that very thing is happening in Nacogdoches.

Nacogdoches Public Library Hosts a Monthly Cookbook Club

If you go to the Nacogdoches Public Library webpage, you'll see that they host a cookbook club on the first Thursday of every month. The way it works is that the group chooses a cookbook as a whole, then the members each cook one recipe from it. At the meeting, the members bring their dishes to the library and show them off, and everyone gets to sample the dishes.

For example, according to the Nacogdoches Public Library Facebook page, they've posted that the next Cookbook Club Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 PM. The cookbook that the group selected to use for this meeting is called "Simply Korean". That means that all the members will select a recipe from that book, and they have until September 3rd to work on getting their recipe just the way they want it, then they'll bring it to the library to show it off.

And, if you're concerned about getting your hands on the cookbook, they've made that process an easy one. The library staff keeps that cookbook at their front desk, and members can go by and get a copy of whatever recipe they want to use. No book purchase necessary!

Like I said, I think it's a pretty cool idea. Maybe it's just because I enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking, but I think it's still a neat concept.
