Remember a few months back when we told you that the Lufkin Fire Department was getting set to administer the firefighter entrance exam in September? Well, now it's the police department's turn.

Lufkin Police Department to Administer Entrance Exam

According to the Lufkin Police Department Facebook page, the police department will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd at 9:00 AM. You have to apply online at the City of Lufkin website no later than October 27 at 11:59 PM.

Just like the fire department exam, you have to be on-time the day of the police entrance exam. Anyone arriving late to the exam will not be allowed in and - you guessed it - will not be allowed to take the exam. And, also like the firefighter exam, this one will be held at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center.

Requirements for Police Entrance Exam

The only age requirement for taking this exam is that applicants must be 21 years of age or older. There is no maximum age limit, just the 21-year minimum. Also, you must have a high school diploma or GED in order to take the exam.

Another requirement that seems obvious, but is still added as a reminder, is that you must present a valid driver's license on the day of the test. I mean, come on, you have to prove who you are. You can't just say, "Oh yeah, that's me," without verification. It doesn't work that way.

If applicants score at least a 70 on the written exam, they will then also have to take a physical fitness exam, so applicants are asked to bring appropriate clothing, as well. They'll be doing a 2000-meter row on a row machine.

If they are hired as a recruit, the pay for the position is $56,500.00. The full Lufkin Police Department salary ranges from $64,975.00 to $101,670.40. Officers can also make extra for special assignments.

So, if being a police officer is on your goal list, Lufkin PD is hiring, and the entrance exam is coming up soon!
