It's hard to believe, but Survivor is going into its 51st season this year. I remember sitting at home watching the very first season in 2000. I haven't been the most consistent fan over the years, but I've enjoyed watching every so often. This year, I might have to tune in a bit more, because one of the contestants is from Deep East Texas.

Survivor 51 to Feature Lufkin Native, Devin Way

According to an article from Entertainment Weekly, Devin Way from Lufkin is one of the 21 contestants that will be competing to win the $1 million prize in Fiji on this season of Survivor. Devin is a 33-year-old actor currently living in Los Angeles, California, but his hometown is right here in Deep East Texas.

According to the IMDB website, Devin has had several different roles leading up to this. Lots of people might have seen him first on Grey's Anatomy where he played Dr. Blake Simms, or on Sistas, the series from Tyler Perry. It looks like Survivor will be his first reality show appearance.

Will he have a chance at winning it? Hey, we might be a bit biased around here, but lots of us will always pull for the local guy and say that he's got a good shot. Without seeing the show for myself, I can't really say whether or not he'll be the last man standing at the end. Regardless of that, it's still pretty cool to know that a Deep East Texan is getting a chance to compete on national TV.
