Deer Season for Deep East Texas Begins the First Weekend in November

Deer season is a big deal in Deep East Texas. From the time that feed stores start putting out corn for the season, until the actual season comes to a close, people around here are all about the sport. I know that lots of you will probably tell me that you've already got the information that I'm about to give you, and that's alright. Just let this serve as a reminder.

White-Tailed Deer Season Opens on November 7, 2026

Yes, I'm aware that white-tailed deer season opens the first full weekend of November every year. I grew up here. There's a good chance that that piece of information is actually on my DNA. But, if you're not from here, or you haven't been an avid hunter, there's a good chance that you didn't know about the date. That means that this year, deer season will officially open on November 7, 2026, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife website.

It will open that day, then will come to a close on January 3, 2027. That means you have two months to get out on the deer stand and get your deer.

Other Dates to Know for Deer Season

There are a few exceptions to the deer season dates. Youth hunters get to start their hunts a week early. They can hunt the weekend of October 30th to November 1st. They can also hunt later, from January 4th through January 17th.

Also, if you prefer to hunt with a bow instead of a rifle, the dates are a bit different for you. Bow season opens up on October 3rd and goes right up until the regular season starts on November 7th.
