There are literally millions of dollars swimming around the Texas coast right now.

The Texas CCA STAR Tournament has millions of dollars in prizes waiting for the right person to catch the right fish. From truck and boat prizes to Whataburger for a year, there are plenty of chances to win. However, the fishing tournament is halfway through, but here’s the wild part: Only two grand prizes have been claimed.

The tagged redfish that could change your summer might be hanging out in the same spots you’ve been fishing for years. Imagine casting out from Port O’Connor or Seadrift, thinking it’s just another weekend trip, and coming back with a prize that’s worth more than my yearly salary.

Register before you regret it.

But you’ve got to be registered and a current CCA Texas member before you hook it. If you’re not, you’ll have the catch… but none of the prize. (It’s happened before. It’s heartbreaking. Don’t be that guy.)

I already know one day there's going to be someone who catches a tagged fish but isn't registered. Don't think you can pull a fast one on the CCA and just register after you catch the tagged fish. Oh no, I've heard plenty of rumors about the process to claim your prize, including taking a lie detector test.

The grand prizes are out there and they're so close but the clock is ticking. The tournament will end September 1, 2025 that gives you a few more weeks to catch THE ONE.

LOCAL WINNERS ON THE LEADERBOARD

Nate Opela from Halletsville is one out of two grand prize winners so far. Bobby Jacob from Victoria is currently on the leader board for biggest Dorado caught.
