East Texas At Risk of Severe Storms, Tornadoes on Monday Afternoon
Monday afternoon and evening, much of East Texas is at risk of a severe weather outbreak. Hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are anticipated across a swath from Shreveport to Austin, which includes Lufkin/Nacogdoches and Tyler/Longview.
Some of the storms could produce golf-ball-sized hail and winds in excess of 60 mph. Forecasters are also warning that strong tornadoes (111+ mph) are a possibility. The greatest probability of tornadoes on Monday extends from the ArkLaTex through much of East Texas and into the Brazos Valley.

Timing Of The Severe Weather
Most computer models indicate that the severe storms will move through the Pineywoods on Monday afternoon and evening. A few showers and thunderstorms may pop off before noon, but the squall line with embedded strong to severe storms is expected between 2 pm and 8 pm.
Flooding Concerns
Heavy downpours will occur with many of these storms; however, the biggest flooding threat will be along the I-20 and I-30 corridor between Dallas and Texarkana. Isolated rainfall amounts up to 4 inches are possible. The Excessive Rainfall Outlook map does include Nacogdoches, Shelby, and other counties to the north in the yellow-shaded, slight risk area for flash flooding on Monday.
Turkey Day Outlook
Colder weather will filter in after Monday's storms. Sunny skies are expected on Thanksgiving Day with a chilly high in the 60s and an overnight low near 40. Rain chances will return by Thanksgiving weekend.
