Family Crisis Center of East Texas to Host ‘Safe Summer Break’
We are less than two months away from the end of school and the start of summer break.
The Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas will be hosting an event called Safe Summer Break. This compelling and educational event is designed to promote safe practices during the summer season.
It will take place on April 24th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) Recreation Center.
The Safe Summer Break event is aimed at encouraging students and community members to make informed decisions regarding their safety, health, and well-being throughout the summer months. Participants can look forward to interactive booths, educational activities, and valuable resources on topics such as responsible drinking, consent, healthy relationships, and personal safety.
"We want to ensure that everyone in our community is equipped with the tools and knowledge to have a fun, but more importantly, safe summer break," said Whitney Burran, Executive Director for the Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas. "This event provides a unique opportunity to raise awareness about critical issues like sexual assault prevention, alcohol responsibility, and safety during summer activities."
The event will feature:
· Free food and mocktails donated by area restaurants.
· Interactive educational booths offering information on consent, bystander intervention, and the prevention of sexual violence.
· Safety tips for enjoying summer events and parties.
· Giveaways and resources for students, including free promotional items, informational brochures, and more.
