The Central Bulldogs have a new head basketball coach. Central ISD Athletic Director Tony Brown has announced the hiring of Tyler McHenry as the new Head Coach for the boys basketball program.

“Tyler McHenry will be a great addition to the Central Athletics head coaching staff. Coach McHenry not only has a tremendous work ethic and knowledge of the game, but he has a passion for the sport that we know will continue the recent success of our boys' basketball program. His loyalty and love for our school are evident to anyone who knows Tyler McHenry.”

McHenry has served on the Bulldog Basketball coaching staff for four years, serving as a varsity assistant coach, JV coach, and junior high coach. Under the leadership of Coach McHenry, the Central High School JV boys’ basketball teams have won three consecutive district championships, while the varsity boys team secured back-to-back district championships for the first time in more than 60 years.

McHenry bleeds green. He is a 2014 Central High School graduate. Coach McHenry was a starter on the 2013-2014 Bulldog Basketball District Championship that went to the Regional Quarterfinals. Since then, he has earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2019 and 2021.

He and his wife, Jacee, reside in the Central community and have one daughter, Olivia.

2024 Senior Salute Graduates

Here's a look at many of the entries that we have received for the 2024 Senior Salute promotion. Six area graduates will receive a $1000 scholarship thanks to KICKS 105, McWilliams Heating, AC, and Plumbing, Kelly's Truck Parts, and KP2 Properties
