Road Closures This Week in Lufkin’s Hospital District

Officials with the City of Lufkin are advising motorists of road and utility work that will require road closures and detours the week of November 3.

Ellis Street Closure

The City of Lufkin Street Department will be performing asphalt overlay work on Ellis Street, located directly behind St. Luke’s Health Memorial. This project is expected to take place from Monday, November 3, through Wednesday, November 5. During this time, Ellis Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic.

Visitors and staff can access St. Luke's Health Memorial Hospital by way of the several Frank Street entrances. A map of the affected area is shown below.

Gaslight Boulevard Closure and Detours

The City of Lufkin will temporarily close a portion of Gaslight Boulevard, just south of Medical Park Drive, from Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 7. This closure is necessary to allow contractors to install a storm sewer culvert.

All businesses in the area will remain accessible. Traffic crossovers will be installed at each end of the closure to allow vehicles to turn around safely. The City of Lufkin produced the map below as a guide.

Motorists traveling in this area over the next few days are asked to slow down and be mindful of the workers in the area. Please allow extra time to reach your destination or choose an alternate route.
