East Texas Severe Weather Update

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has updated its latest outlook for strong to severe weather across the South, and they have shifted the greatest threat of severe weather and tornadoes to the east.

The yellow-shaded region located through much of Louisiana indicates a 'slight' risk of severe storms developing this afternoon. Deep East Texas and southeast Texas have now been moved to the 'marginal' risk area.

The tornado threat area has also shifted to the Bayou State.

While there is still the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms in parts of East Texas, it appears only isolated cases would occur.

Overnight, much of north-central Texas received 2-5 inches of rainfall leading to the issuance of Flash Flood Warnings for much of the Dallas Metro. That line of storms has now moved eastward, however, they are not packing quite the same punch, thankfully.

Some of these areas of showers could intensify, especially as they cross into Louisiana. But, it looks like most of the thunderstorm development will take place east of Texas.

Weekend Outlook

The cold front will bring cooler temperatures by Thursday evening with highs in the mid to upper 60s for Friday and Saturday. We can expect temperatures to soar into the 70s Sunday through next Wednesday.

No precipitation is expected for a while once today's showers pass.
